POEM: Virtuous Woman by @muntasirkanam

Virtuous Woman so strong and true

Hold your head up high the world is not against you.

You are strong, intelligent, beautiful and divine.

Men will honor, respect your heart and your mind.

Take some time to yourself,

Learn to love you first- both inside and out

You are not inferior to any man

Remember you are a queen

Stand up for your rights, your hopes and your dreams

Stop belittling yourself; you are more than your looks or your hair

Everyday that you get up face the world without fear

For although you are a wife, friend and a mother

You are God’s child and I promise that he will love you like no other

So anytime you feel like the world is on your shoulders

Remember you have the strength of a soldier

Do not get sad or frustrated

Look in that mirror

And say with veneration

I am a virtuous woman, strong and true

Guide my steps today God, for my work is through you.

Why I Love You

!.You give to me hope
And help me to cope
When life pulls me down
You bring me around

You teach me to care
And help me to share
You make me honest
With kindness the best

From you I learned love
With grace from above
It’s for you I live
And I want to give

You are the reason
That fills each season
When I hear love I think of you
You are my world and best friend too

I love you because you are so kind, thoughtful and caring
I love you because you are so pleasant, lovely and sharing

You made me the man I am
Thank you

Adding another feather to my amazing feathers By Muhammad Muntasir

June 2nd  was the day I was born and just  like how Dr. Seus will say “Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way”. I’m happy that am plus 1 today but all the credit must go to my father Adamu Musa kanam and my beloved mother Aisha M. Kanam for nurturing me into this priceless gem I have become according to them.

I remember one incident that happened when I was growing and I will love to share that with you all. My Dad told me that my birthday was May 19 while my mum insisted that it was 2 June.  I was cut up in the middle but when we finally checked my birth certificate, it was reading 2nd June and that clears the ambiguity. My mum was right after all she passed through the hectic labour.  So thank you Mum for enduring the hard labour and afterwards, showing me an unconditional love.

With age like they say, comes responsibility.  A Responsibility to myself and to humanity. In the words of Prince Charles Dickson he said “ Challenging perception; We have met the enemy and he is us, the hardest person in the world to lead will always be yourself”. Every day, I always charged myself to be a better person than I was yesterday and today is not different because am charging to be a better person than I was from 2nd June 2012 to 2nd June 2013.

My biggest wish today is to see functioning Nigeria. Leadership has failed but the people have not helped either. Leadership is an evolution of the people and vice versa. We cannot give up or in either. May not be easy but its not impossible. We must go back to the basis. Ask questions. Redefine the future, understand the past and break the evil norm with good. A new Nigeria is possible.

Today is a joyful day but am missing the two greatest women in my life. First is my Mum  Aisha who has passed away . Time has refused to erase the vacuum that has enveloped me and your other kids since you left. May Allah forgive you all your sins and may Aljannah be your abode. The other lady is someone who will one day Insha Allah be my wife and I pray that by my next birthday, she would have become an integral part of my life. Her name will be undisclosed for one because am still working tirelessly to make her mine.

Eleamor Mark said   “By the time your life is finish, you will have learned just enough to begin it well”. It is true that life is the best teacher and I pray to be a good student every day. I thank my family, friends and all wishers for making this day a blissful one.  Let’s do it next year again by God’s grace. One love from me to you as always.
